I am experimenting with different ways to approach the random map mode. Basically, I've got this new strategy and I want to ask you what you think. I call it "Interceptor Elite"
Basically, you buy about 5-6 interceptors right away. Then, you take the easy planets that have got nobody on them. You hold them and buy up more inteceptors. So now you have about 10 by the time the bad guys start taking your planets away. Interceptors are good for defense because they give the bad guys so many targets instead of your base. Also, they repair very quickly, so it's ok if they take some heat. Then, you pretty much fight for whatever planets you want with your big fleet of interceptors. Maybe by a money-maker (forgot what it's called) to earn you $5 for kills.
I am on the second Gauntlet, so I will be trying it tonight.

People have different strategies, as some like to trade, I however agree with you totally. This is basically the way I play also. It took me awhile to figure out about interceptors as protectors (actually a tip from Program Fatebringer). The earning of money early on is one of the keys to this game. I also love the money makers 5 bucks a kill (scavengers) and you only need 1 per group to earn the money. You catch on very quick my friend and will go a long way with this strategy. Catchy name also. Gauntlets are hard good luck.
