I was born in Kiev, Ukraine but mostly grew up in Indiana. I graduated first in my class from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2004. Next, I earned a National Science Foundation Fellowship and conducted research in Artificial Intelligence at Michigan State University in 2004-05. Since then, I've taught mathematics at the collegiate and high school levels. I currently work as a math instructor at Ransom Everglades Upper School in Miami, Florida.
