Galaxy 5: Starvation

First of all, fun game! Second of all, I need help on galaxy 5 . I made it through the first 4 pretty quickly. However, I have been trying to beat the 5th one and it is a real tough one. So far, I have focused on taking control of all the planets and little asteroids. First, I would get at least 3 interceptors and then I take the little asteroids nearby. Then, I would go for the big planets. I would hold them for a while but then the redog people come and take them away with their Destroyers. I have countered this with my own destroyers! Take that. But...they pump theirs out at a faster rate...so eventually I am swept away from all my planets. By the way, I am really good at killing their assassins before they get to my base, so I take like no damage from them. Still, eventually, I have no income. I have tried to use Freighters to make money, a little bit. However, the green "neutral" guys are such pests. They really bust up my freighters, and I don't think I can afford to send more ships to supervise them. So, any advice?

One way to go is to make a trade run from the Mineral Asteroid to the Forest Planet to the Metropolis. This gets you $100 per Freighter. I'd use two freighters at least. Also, do this early since it will take them a while to reach their destination. You have to make sure your Freighters survive, so dodge other traffic and repair if you need to. When they reach the Spaceport, you are going to be very rich!
